I'm glad my insurance rates are fairly low. Even with full coverage on my newer car here, it's only about $45 per month. Moving from my old car that got between 28 and 33 in town to my new one that gets 24-25 (darn Automatic Transmission) my gas bill has gone up by quite a bit. It's still only around $150 per month including insurance.
Part of the problem with waiting to get a car is that the first 8 years or so you are driving your insurance will be between 2 and 4 times as high as after you have been driving for 5-8 years. My insurance was always over $100 until I turned 25. Between 24 and 26 it dropped 3 times, first to 88, then to about 60, finally to $33 per month.
