Ugh. I don't like that.
Thus, there's going to be a contest on Gundam designs in the comic strip. It's going to be a while before I draft up the contest on the comic strip itself, but I'm going to throw the gauntlet down with an opportunity to get your designs in.
Here's the groundwork:
- It has to stand 16.7 Sol 3 meters, and stand by itself in normal gravity.
- You can't use any organic compounds in the Gundam itself. Sorry, you are not FireTiger. The only thing organic must be the pilot.
- Talking about the pilot, you'll be using the G-Gundam style Mobile Trace system. In addition, you can have any AI on there that *aids* you (it does not takes over control).
- Wings are fine, but cannot be fixed in one position. Ether the AI or the pilot has control over it.
- You may not be powered by Merinkowski particles (spelling, please?). They don't exist in the Canmephian universe. But you may use the BHC power cells (BHC for Black Hole Cell, aka artifical singularities -- basically, virtually infinite power)
- Oh, you can't use chemical drive engines ether. CMSC regs for spacefairing vehicles forbid it, and yes, you will be in space.
- You have your choice of digitalgrade (animal-ish) or plantigrade (standard Gundam) footing, and you may have up to three tails.
- Your choice of weapons needs to be aproved. Preaproved weapons include the beam saber and some beam cannons (including mazers).
- Oh, did we tell you that you will be fighting in your suit?
By comparison, The CMGS FireTiger catches these specs exactly with the exception of having four arms in stacked chest configuration and being organic. Inside the specs, it'll have the beam sabres, a mazer, and two gatling guns, as well as digitalgrade legs and wings. It will be RedWolf's (my) Gundam. It is based off of the 08th MS team Gundam line with some G Gundam additions.
If I like your design to use it, I'll need poses drawn or rendered, and sent in 300 dpi. You will be recognized on the website, of course. This is an open-ended contest, I haven't set a timeframe yet, but I'll try to give you a year or so.

Date: 2002-12-19 04:52 pm (UTC)I don't get much of this.
Does one write it up? Or... do they draw it? or do they build it (model kit)?
My brain is confused. =P
