Same as it ever was?

You may find your self, in a shotgun shack...
So what has happened with the year of the attack? Lets see now...
Airlines suffered tremendously, as airplanes were grounded for a week or so. Amtrak, the nationwide rail service, was pulled in to help folks get around, but even then this vital backup mode of transportation is suffering to get peramently profitable by Congressional orders. Security was taken over by a new Executive branch department, but is still having problems being more secure than the existing privatized security force.
The military was able to do something -- it liberated Aftganistan and changed the government there to something not dominated by religion-induced politics. But even then, they're still cleaning up that mess one cave at a time.
The economy suffered immensely. Multiple layoffs occur daily, and noone's really hiring. Even the Transportation Security Force isn't hiring, dispite all that is said. Belive me, I've applied, and haven't been hired yet in over six months!
So I'm basically existing. The economy is shot, the goverment's looking like it's running around with it's head cut off, it's all a fscked mess that I don't see itself resolving any time soon.
