It's time I kicked these out to the Intarwebs at large.  I'm looking for a Bluetooth powered stereo headset.  Something that's powerful enough to handle play on transit.
  • It must support the A2DP, SCO (usually part of A2DP), and AVRCP Bluetooth standards.
  • It must allow me to pair my phone to the headset, as well as a Bluetooth adapter.
  • It's got to have some power to it so I can hear it over the train going over a bridge, or a bus -- or halfway-decent noise cancelation.
  • The cheaper the better.
There's been a few contenders:
  • Motorola HT820: Great pair that I'm very comfortable with, but... the killer is the volume's half that compared with Apple's iPod earbuds.
  • Logitech Wireless Headphone for MP3: Good on the volume front, but it's not Bluetooth.  It's proprietary, and needs it's own adapter.  Oh, and it's only audio out.
Anyone have any recommendations?

I use a BlueAnt X5 (http://www.blueant.com.au/x5_stereo_bluetooth_headset_headphones_a2dp.htm) headest that I'm extremely happy with.

The X5 supports A2DP, SCO and AVRCP, and I've got it paired with both an LG and a ZTE phone. It also works with my PC -- I've got it running in Ubuntu with the utilities from the bluetooth-alsa package.

Also, one cool extra that it has is something called the "audio streamer". Basically, it's a little battery powered device that takes an audio headphone jack input (like from your MP3 player, or your computer, if it doesn't support Bluetooth), and then it streams the audio from the wired input wirelessly over Bluetooth.

It's a good contender, but I wonder about the power of those speakers.

They do go quite loud, but my gripe is that they don't actually seal your ears -- they just kind of sit on your ears loosely, so even though the speakers are loud, they tend to let a little background noise in.

Last time I went looking for bluetooth headphones, I found that most of them are pretty lousy all around. Horrible sound quality, bluetooth just didn't have the bandwidth for full stereo audio. It may have changed since then.
