With Edwards out, it's a two person race for the Democratic nomination.  Obama and Hillary.

You know I'm solidly anti-Hillary.  The gut says she isn't the right woman for the job (even though I believe the country's ripe for a black and/or woman as president).  She also has Pres Bill Clinton as a husband, who can't seem to shut up and take a back seat anymore -- which is drowning her out.  She's been caught lying on the campaign trail, from latest reports highlighted on Digg.  And her record is mainly pushing pork-barrel projects.

Which means Obama is the default choice.  But is it the right one?

I think yes.  He's building up a platform of vastly open government via open standards, tapping Lawrence Lessig (founder of the Creative Commons).  He also pushed through legislature in his state to video-tape police interrogations (which I believe is a good idea and is being pushed here in Maryland).

XKCD's author Randall Munroe wrote about it, and declared his support.  Wil Wheaton also is supporting him.  Bill Gates and Steve Jobs also are endorsing him.  Craigslist founder Craig Newmark is also in the Obama camp.

I really think Obama's the right choice.  I hope he gets the nomination.

I'm not sure the country will vote for either a black man or a woman as president. It's a shame that those will be the deciding factors, too, and not what they could do for the country.

I'm behind Obama, though. I want him to get the nomination. Hilary is all wrong for the job and she won't change a thing.

The one thing that I worry about Obama is his lack of experience in politics, when say compared to others like Clinton or Edwards. Despite me being very appealed by his stances on many issues in America, I feel his lack of more years under his belt would undermine his true potential in the eyes of his detractors.

One circumstance that was talked about on a talk radio show I listen to (Coast to Coast AM) was Clinton and Obama running together, with Hilary as President and Obama as Vice President. Four or more years as VP would give both himself and his image a needed boost in his political and leadership experience, and pave the way for a more suitable President in my opinion.

Although on the other hand, perhaps such a fresh face and young candidate as Obama would be just what the United States needs right about now. If there's anyone who would be more apt to shake up the establishment and make bold and decisive changes in the political landscape of America, it would have to be someone such as Obama who is still getting his feet wet and is also perhaps less prone to corruption than most politicians seem to be over the course of time.

I'm not too concerned about experience, or much of anything else.

I have one question.

What's his stand on the Constitution, specifically, the second amendment.

If he's not willing to uphold the Constitution, whether or not he LIKES it, he's not good for the country.

(That's the same for everyone, of course. I already know that Hillary hates it)
