"Reverend" Jerry Falwell is dead, died of heart failure, as best as I can guess from the news reports.
It is hard not to speak ill of him, when he has skewered the Christian faith in his crusade to make everyone a part of his church and his radical views. He blended politics with faith in a combination so finely interwoven that it continues to threaten to turn the US into Iran. He has ruined not only many of a person, but many a religion. It is hard to forgive his sins, when the destruction is so great that absolution would be beyond him.
I cannot see anything good of him. I can only be glad that he is gone, so that his victims can finally heal knowing that his reign of terror is over.

I will not cheer his death. To do such a thing would be to imitate the man, and I REFUSE to give him that much victory over my soul. Rather, I will mourn a life wasted, and wonder what he would have been had not the poison of hate taken root in his being.
