My main laptop, redwolf, died after I spilled orange Crush on it in reaction to my newphew.  It got into the mainboard and a few other items, and I shut it down ASAP.

Initial cleanup commenced, and it doesn't want to start up.

It's now been disassembled, sprayed down, and now drying off in my downstairs bathroom sink.  It's hard drive is attached to a PCMCIA (16-bit) portable HD, and I'm copying every regular file off of it onto my main rig tygris via my dead-battery laptop sandra.

What a mess.

I'm heavily considering replacing redwolf, a HP Omnibook 4150B, with an Omnibook 6000 my boss has now.  It'll be a virtual upgrade.

What sort of reaction caused you to spill that stuff in the first place, if you don't mind my curiosity?

Nephew trying to come closer to see what I was doing on the laptop, by dragging his highchair over while he was in it. So I moved him over myself, resume, knock over the bottle of Orange Crush, glug glug glug "DAMN!" power off the laptop.
