Maryland Politics. Gotta love 'em.

We have a governor's race, and the first salvo was shot this week. Here's what I'm thinking now:
If you've known Baltimore City, you know it has it's problems. Some of them carry over from administration to administration, some caused by the administration. It's current mayor, Martin O'Malley, is running for governor... which makes him look like he's trying to escape Bal'mer's problems. No vote.
Then there's Doug Duncan who's TV commercial hit this week. I got to see it a few minutes ago. One thing hit me: "I put my church first, and goverment second." Oh oh... given that many high-level bishops have rantingly ordered Christans to sue the makers of The Davinci Code movie like they were an Islamic emon(sp?), this means Doug's unfit for govermental duty. No vote.
Which leaves current incumbant Gov. Robert Erlich -- who has it together, I admit. He did hit a roadblock with our legistlature over slots -- something I belive the legistlature is the problem. I really want them to have more time. This four months out of the year biz isn't working.

Date: 2006-05-09 08:23 pm (UTC)On performance: There isn't any basis I can think of. I belive he's been blocked on items which would be benificial for Maryland. Let me iterate a bit.
* Slots. I'm for it, because I want a stable job! But damn Speaker Bush won't let it on the floor -- for the past 4 years!
* Power. Erlich's had to present this plan because the legistlature ran out of time on possible legistlation. Of course, the PSU killed some parts of the plan, and we're back at square -5.
Now, I'd give you one thing -- the ballot box. Two elections and there's no paper trail. I blame Erlich for that one, but he's been pressured to require the paper trail now. So he's not a political idiot, just a moron.
Unfortunately, Duncan's just did the "Religion before politics" mistake and O'Malley's not done yet. They're not worth the vote. Unless there's a fourth candidate, Bob's it.
