That's no WebTroll.

Today, when I did my usuall morning walkthrough of the comics, I saw that Gaming Guardians didn't update from Saturday.
"Okay.... I'll check later." I thought to myself.
I just rechecked... and see not Webtroll, but some badly executed tripe of a webcomic. The plot is there, but the art is not. It's actually painful to look at. I could give a hundred reasons why, but Greg really chose a real winner this time around.
Now, put aside the fact that Greg said "We'd have a recap week followed by two in-cannon guest weeks" (my paraphrasing) in the forums. Put aside the fact that Greg's choice of artists have been rather good in his comics (Xaotl and Ende are two of the good ones). Put aside the fact that Greg's apparently has trouble keeping those artists -- something not new to other projects, but the rate of turnover is much higher (Carpe Diem is one example). Put aside the fact that some of the projects (Furry, Carpe Diem) seem to suffer from large delays, and others (Wierd Wild West, Powergamers, Dark Supermegatopia) seem to be abandoned mid-story. Greg's been doing rather good writing, and both WebTroll (on Gaming Guardians) and Cara Judd (the artist on The Guardians) have been consistent -- Miss Judd probably being the savior of The Guardians.
However, even with warning, I doubt anyone was expecting the trainwreck that happened today. I haven't seen any reaction on the forums yet, so I can't guage the reaction of Greg when he first saw the artwork. I'm half tempted to wait the two weeks, only seeing what's going on in the forums... while the other half is tempted to say "Drop the strip. He's lost me."
