You press down for the angle of launch, and release when you have your desired power.  You have some control over adjusting your angle afterwards (up or down) and have specials presented to you if you hit a partcular female.  Some females you hit allow you to go up, bypass the next person you hit, or just stop you.  Some males slow you down or change your angle.

I've managed to get nearly 6000m before. There's a nice special that makes the guy go all rubbery and accelerate on a normal bounce instead of decelerate.
