A T1 is at 1.5440 Megabits/sec both ways -- raw speed, of course.

My cable ISP service to the house is 3 Megabit/sec down, and like 200+ Kilobit up.

Therefore, pulling several gigs of data from the server attached to a T1 down to my local system will max out at the T1's speed (not counting protocol and framing overhead ).

As an intresting sidepoint, 10-base-T is 10 Mbps over copper, so I know it's not my side that's limiting things. :D
