As you know, I'm active on the Napping Cat's Dream. Rarely will I go into DEBATE or REFLECT... but Zenl33t (
nervemisfire) there pointed out an topic which the resident troll (in the figurative sence) was kinda abusing. However, I'm game, so here's the first quote:
President Bush has used the pharase "the American people are Safer" as a response to criticisms about the Iraq war, so then the poiniant question is this, Do you feel safer today, now that Saddamn Huissein is out of power, than you did before the war?
My responce would be "Maybe."
The only reason I could see invading Iraq would be to remove a possible exit point for Al'Quaida to move and hole up in. Oil, Sadam, WMD, all secondary. However, I can say that I wouldn't be suprized if that wasn't the reason they were going after.
A good question is "Are we safer now that we've taken over and rehab'ed Aftganistan?" With that, I say "Yes... and no." Al'Quaida's base of operations is basically rendered inoperative, and is now decenteralized. Osama Bin Lauden's been knocked down from main head guy to the spiritual leader who's out of the loop (heh, sounds like the Pope). This all from news report off of CNN and Fox News (and probably eazily searched through Google News). However, CNN was reporting about a magazine that al'Quaida has been publishing twice monthly (WorldNetDaily article here) which is inciting more violence in Iraq. Good side to that is the US is tracking it, and doesn't quite want it shut down just yet. But it's also inciting more and more attacks, possibly in other countries.
Welcome to our dangerous world.

Date: 2004-07-19 04:13 am (UTC)I'm a muslim too, unfortunately, so a lot of people don't really notice me plotting to assasinate every terrorist in the face of the earth in the most brutal of ways that Allah forbids.

Date: 2004-07-19 07:43 am (UTC)Of course, I had to repharse that. Initially read it as "plotting to assasinate everyone on the face of the earth."
