Sorry for the comic lateness.  I'm only a few minutes late!  (I actually made it before it updated, but still, it should of been on the server before midnight EST)

Anyway, here's the deal.  I'm trying to raise some cash to replace two peices of hardware:
  • My computer monitor -- it's been a few years, but other than abusing it at 1920x1440 (it's spec'ed to 1600x1200) if I turn it on from cold state it takes an hour to "warm up" and the greens to go to their full range. It's a Cornerstone c900.
  • My laptop -- a Toshiba Satelite 115cs.  Nice little Pentium 100 laptop, but it's showing it's age and the battery now only holds an hour at a time.  It's already maxed out to 40 megs of memory, and Firefox swaps like hell on it.  It's ready to go into a perament station.
After much research (as you can see below), I've decided to replace them "soon" with better tech.
  • The monitor's destined to be replaced by a Dell 1703FP LCD monitor.  The Firing Squad site says this mid-range 24-bit LCD has almost perfect color rendition out of the box, and will assume the same from the 1704FP or it's Samsung model (it's the same LCD).  Pricewatch has 'em for around $250, but with shipping, it's more like $300.  My NVidia card will support it eazily.
  • The laptop's (redwolf) is destined to be retired, renamed to be shotgun.  The new redwolf is going to be a Dell CPi laptop, which I can get for under $300, if not under $200 off of eBay.  I'll be checking each one out, of course, but I already have one resource ([livejournal.com profile] gentle_wolfox ) who's delt with them and I can bug him about.
So on the top is going to be a donation box, with a goal of $600.  What I don't use on the laptop I'll use on the LCD.  If I go over, though, I'll try for two LCD's (maybe a crappy one next to the good one)
