ketrien about the relevation. Turns out he's gone through alot of SCSI and SCSI RAID cards to do a large fast setup... and the cards I have are crap. Obvious question is now "Ok, what's good and cheap?"

Search for Ebay, and they have multple versions. Ket pointed me to an AcceleRAID card (with memory) which didn't look like it came out of a Cray. MSRP $420. Got it for $53. Linux has drivers for it already, so I have to recompile a kernel for it.
Now for the hard drive and DVD-RAM.
