Our state govenor, Maryland Govenor Bob Erlich, signed into law a "flush tax."  It's a $30/year tax on folks who's sewage systems go into a public system (aka me).  Assuming 5 flushes a day, continuous use, that's roughtly 1.6 cents a flush.

The money goes to improve the sewage system so it doesn't pollute the Chesapeake Bay as much.  Maybe some of it will go into some treatment plants that are overflowing sewage into the bay!
