Today, after sis arrived, mom and I left to go home from babysitting the two neices.  Had to go around via a southern route just because the main artery was clogged.  We got home around 6:30pm...

...to a treelimb partially in the driveway and the top of a tree on a power line.

Called the power company (first for the tree on the line, then to report smoldering on the line).  They asked us to call the Fire Department.

Local voluteer department came out, looked at it, said "Nothing we can do but call the power company and get it up on a higher priority.  You'll probably loose power in 20 minutes anyway from it snapping.  If it flares up into a full borne fire, call us again.  Oh, and don't touch the tree until they get here.  It's probably grounding through the tree now.  Give it a wide berth."

That was around 7pm.

It's 10:30pm, and the power company still hasn't come.  Of course, the tree's on a 7500-volt line that feeds the neighborhood.

Maybe it's because a 14000-volt line snapped over by Rt. 2 in Glen Burnie.

So that means they can't spare "A" truck to go and turn off the power?

They need a grounded cherrypicker at the very least. I won't be suprised if they take the tree out (and I'll gladly accept that, they can have it.)
