Ugh. Where to start.

9:30pm EST I get a guy from Texas calling me. Conversation goes like "Heya. How ya doing?" Fine... "How fast can you get to Columbia Mall?" About an hour at this time. Why? "How would you like to work today? $9/hr." Yeah, but... "You do have some retail experience, right?" Yeah, the #1 theater in the nation plus a college bookstore. "Ok, let me get some info so you'll get paid, and send some stuff off for you to fax back. You need to be at (insert company name here) by 11." Okay...

Quickly turned myself around and got there, suit and tie, at 10:55. Got about 10 minutes of training of what deals in cell phones AT&T and TMobile were doing. Worked six straight hours flying by the seat of my pants. Probably helped out 10 customers, most of them having account problems. Learned that Sprint simply sucks, and I was temp'ing.

5pm rolls around, and my timesheet is faxed in. Head on out, call the house. Noone home. Call Mom... and find out that she's driving Dad down to my sister's still-in-construction house (which is another long story) to help. Okay, I'll be outside by (known place) by the time you get back. How long *CLICK!*

Ugh. Eat a burger. Take fries and soda to (known place). Wonder how long it'll take, and call again. Just have enough time to get a haircut... which turned into a quick shave and clip. Back outside, call again.

And again.

And again.

And again, before calling my sister around 6:30. Guess what, they're going trick-or-treating at the old neighborhood. Get told to have fun at the mall -- Um, sis, I don't have money. If I were to have fun, I would need money. Walked around the mall. The B Dalton is gone, and the Waldenbooks from upstairs moved to it's place. And all those costumed rugrats!!!!!

And Mike Myers dipped in latex to look like the Cat in the Hat. *shudder* Don't go to that movie. It'll flop like Scooby Doo. I mean, the Grinch live action was ok... but I think Dr. Seuss wanted it only animated. It took a read of Swain's Flames in Dr. Dobbs Journal to reset my mind.

Get picked up at 8:15 or so. Drive pass home... to the house. Futz around at a nearby Home Depo. Repeat that I had paperwork to fill out, stuff to fax out -- still in a suit and tie!!! Was basically useless to anyone save for my neice who fell asleep and became too hot, thus requiring me to take her out of the van and carry her limp body around for a while. Eventually get back home at 11:30pm

Find out that the email wasn't delivered, after manually yanking out spam to get known good stuff.

Miss good sections of Wolfox Radio
Miss any (if ever) Mythbusters
Miss my fries and soda, since I had to toss them
Is generally P.O.'ed
Don't know if I'm working tomorrow
Belives AT&T has a temp service, which means email isn't going through anyway, for it's being blocked on all servers.

I'm going to bed. At 10 I'll call this guy in Texas up, and start doing Law and Order.

I think they were being screwed more by Sprint. I kept hearing horror stories about how bad Sprint was.

Of course, Sprint's using older CDMA tech. Everyone else is switching, or has switched, to the international GSM standard.

ATTWS, Cingular, and T-Mobile use GSM (ATTWS also has TDMA where as the other two have gone strictly GSM) IIRC.

Sprint, Verizon and Qwest I believe are using CDMA or CDMA 1x/rtt networks.

In canada, Rogers is GSM (with TDMA still around), Fido/Microcell is GSM only, Telus and Bell Canada are CDMA 1x/rtt only.

ATTWS is rolling out UMTS in florida , I believe I read it on the slashdot article about UMTS cell phone nokia was releasing, and that it specificly mentioned ATTWS.

Japan is UMTS 2100Mhz W-CDMA (Which is the next step up from GSM) where as some other countries with CDMA/1x will be moving to CDMA2000
