  • 14:34 Found Dell CPi laptop I haven't touched in a year. It even fsck'ed the drive! (no, file system check, not the other type). #
  • 14:34 Upgrading Ubuntu on that old Dell CPi named terry. #
  • 15:47 Ahhh, so Furnation's website is going down as well as Furnation prime. *sigh* #
  • 15:48 I can't blame Nexxus for shutting down FN, due to the economy. I really can't. #
  • 16:11 Right now, for free hosting go over to FurrryNet (furrynet.com). #
  • 22:39 terry now is a pre-debut picture frame, showing LOLcat pics. :) #

FurNation is going down? o.o

Nexxus is shutting it down, he can't pay for it anymore. He'll also be shutting down FN Prime on SL; the Forums are being saved for future relaunch.

So far, so bad.

What's it take to run it?

The Sim or the site?

But FurNation is the largest cluster of furry sims on the grid! Are they all being taken down, or just FurNation Prime? I don't see how something as well organized as FurNation should be having so many problems. Most other sims get enough donations to keep it going, even if the team can't maintain the website any more.

Only FN Prime, which he owns, is going down.

Oh, I see...that's a little more heartening then. I didn't know how connected all the FurNations where to each other, but if Prime is the only one that is leaving then it won't have too much of an impact on the furry community. Even though it's the central sim, it hasn't seen much use lately. I'll miss the Pyramid and the Roman Baths, which where some of the first places I visited in world; but nobody hangs out there any more. In fact, I actually thought the Roman Baths had dried up ages ago. I'm there right now and surprised to find them still here.

There aren't any notices in-world either, but I've seen the one on the FurNation website. It's still weird to think that such a huge site won't be around any more. It used to be pretty central to the fandom, didn't it?
