The thing is, if the choice came down to between Clinton and Biden, it was a lose-lose situation. Because let's be honest; for a candidate that's riding the platform of change, Biden is about the biggest supporter of status quo in Washington you can get; a sleazy politician that picks by reflex whatever side of an issue is popular on the left wing side of the county.
