On America being free:

It never was really free. It's always been more a shareware sort of thing, really. If you want full support, you have to invest at least your vote. However, the best part is that it's been open source, though customizing it usually requires a great deal of group effort.

What worries me is that some people seem to want to DRM it, re-write the EULA, make part of the source proprietary and require registration for activation before you can make full use of it.

Oddly enough, that seems about right. Maybe it is just one of the largest opensource project in history. It is bound to be hard to change with so many developers trying to pull things in so many directions at once.
Also, thanks for a good laugh. I needed one.
