Apparently, I've now got a new job (database programmer for state mass transit).

Yeow.

Plus, I think the minimum they were going to pay were about $35K.  That's a roughtly $1,500 paycheck every two weeks before taxes.

Yeow.

It makes me wonder... how much things are going to cost.

Congrats! If you have to move or anything, you can always check cost of living differences through an online cost of living calculator.

Back when I was making that per paycheck, I was estimating 80% of that was take home. That was with Married-3 withholding though, so you'd probably end up with 70-75% instead.

Do you have to move to a higher cost area?

Nah, I'm already near-by mass transit, so I won't be moving soon.
