As you know, Over the Hedge (film) came out this past weekend... and no, I haven't seen it.  I think it's going to be one of many intresting movies (including Talladega Nights, A Prarie Home Companion, and maybe the latest Casino Royale)...

...but [livejournal.com profile] kinkyturtle reminded me that every parent and their six-month old baby will be there.  Oh yes, it's Finding Nemo all over again.  Every theater packed full in the afternoons with kids screaming throught the movies for at least two weeks... and that reflects badly on the parents of said kids.

Yes, I worked through that whole mess, Finding Nemo.  Great film, but... damn, we even had a parent change her kid on her lap!  "Ma'am, we have restrooms to do that, even up here on the second floor."  My sister could easily find a babysitter from the relatives!  Why can't all these people?!?  It may be G rated, but that means an kid going through pre-kindergarden can understand it and enjoy it.  Why take your baby?!?  He/she can't understand it yet and all it's going to do is go "ga-ga," "goo-goo" and "WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"

So instead of going to see Over the Hedge, I'm more tempted to rent it when it gets out on DVD (along with the latest Superman, which the previews just screamed CG and therefore won't be a good film).  That way, all I have to deal with is my parents yelling through the movie, and all I have to do is pause it.

By the way, it's rated PG for some "rude humor and mild comic action."  Bugs Bunny stuff.  I'll have to find any collections in print to prep my neices to see it. :)

sweet! i'm not the only one who doesn't want to see Superman simply because the CG looks overused and crappy as hell!

Actually, just go see it when Cars comes out in 2 weeks. It should make sure that there are less people in Over The Hedge at the very least. Catching it early on one of the first showings might help too, since not as many catch early showings. Just an idea.

Unfortunately, durring Finding Nemo all but the first showing was packed full, and that first showing was very near capacity. All for two 400-seaters and a 200-seater! OUI!

Maybe when Cars comes, it'll die down... but I doubt it.

We should just tell movie theaters to not allow children under a certain age, at certain showings.

Dude, just go to the last showing of the day. That's what I did, and in a theater designed to hold at least 150, there was the pleasant number of six others to share all those rows with. No kids under 15 involved.

And yes, it was a very enjoyable film. *grins*
