Maryland Politics. Gotta love 'em.

We have a governor's race, and the first salvo was shot this week.  Here's what I'm thinking now:

If you've known Baltimore City, you know it has it's problems.  Some of them carry over from administration to administration, some caused by the administration.  It's current mayor, Martin O'Malley, is running for governor... which makes him look like he's trying to escape Bal'mer's problems.  No vote.

Then there's Doug Duncan who's TV commercial hit this week. I got to see it a few minutes ago.  One thing hit me:  "I put my church first, and goverment second." Oh oh... given that many high-level bishops have rantingly ordered Christans to sue the makers of The Davinci Code movie like they were an Islamic emon(sp?), this means Doug's unfit for govermental duty.  No vote.

Which leaves current incumbant Gov. Robert Erlich -- who has it together, I admit.  He did hit a roadblock with our legistlature over slots -- something I belive the legistlature is the problem.  I really want them to have more time.  This four months out of the year biz isn't working.

All this hubub about the DaVinci code, sheesh. It's not our fault for creating compelling historical fiction, it's your fault for training people to be soft-headed enough to accept anything they hear about Jesus Christ.

Are you allowed to be so tongue-in-cheek? ;)

Considering how many damned laws all of the various states have, I'd say that thirty days per year should be more than enough to repeal useless laws.

OK, STriker, I'm going to pick a small nit. It's Martin O'Malley. Now that that's out of the way...on what basis are you rating Gov. Robert "Bobby Smooth" Ehrlich's performance? Just on the BGE rate issue alone, he's made a colossal hash of things. He's openly pro-business, anti-consumer, etc. About the only thing I can honestly cite as an improvement is his call for the State Board of Elections to mandate paper receipts for a valid completed vote. And that's only because I'm an Election Judge, and don't trust Diebold farther than I can throw one of the damn Accuvote TS machines! More later. after I correct a server's permissions...actually a final comment. While Duncan and O'Malley have not earned my vote, Ehrlich has damn sure lost it.
