strredwolf: (Funny)

Awfully funny...

My comic apparently got another link at Something Awful, and it gathered up some responce on [livejournal.com profile] stalag99 .  It also highlighted that I didn't set anonymous posting to be moderated (don't want to completely disable it).  This will make it slighly harder for the hordes over there to post (even though I'm logging their IP addresses already) as I belive there's a "Don't you dare ID yourself to them, or you're gone from us" rule over there.

Of course, if you're one of the goons comming from Something Awful and you think you can do better than me, then sign up and prove it.  May I also remind you that you should be listening to Reel Big Fish's A Little Doubt Goes a Long Way.

And now, for something different.  Scott Kutz just hit that sweet spot again in Tuesday's (which got posted today) PvP.  He's being topical (with both large lotteries being past the quarter-billion mark), and mixes a bit of unusual curdosy with the shock of hitting the big one.  It brighted me up.

You want constructive critisism? Here you go.

No, I'm not a goon. Don't freak out and call me a quarterback. I hate sports.
And calling people 'quarterbacks' just to re-affirm your self appointed title of geek doesn't mean squat. Most people on SA aren't quarterbacks the last time I checked. And they may be, dare I say it, *geeks* too. I hear some of them are even *gasp* FURRIES! Save your high school insecurities for your next circle-jerk, ok?

I think your comic is a little slapped together. With your storyline, a three panel format just doesn't work. It's better suited to a comic with a new mini story arc each page, and to one which is humorous.

I can see that your drawing ability has improved minimally since your first page, but unless you plan on colouring, you should try minimalising your line art so it doesn’t look as messy. And the lack of backgrounds makes it hard to remember where the hell your characters are.

I also find it hard to follow the story without reading and re-reading until my soul dies just that little bit more.

And the mutant boobs scare me. Alot. They add this creepy, Freudian quality to the whole thing which is so prevalent in alot of the sci-fi furry comics. But who am I to judge your...style? You're not forcing me to look at it, but honestly, you can't have a web-comic without critics. That's what happens when you put *anything* on the net; people stumble upon it, see it, and they may not like it.

I am by no means a good artist, or even that great at drawing, but I think anyone can see what's wrong with your comic.

Um, for those younger kiddos out there, let's define your terms...

An Armchair Quarterback is a similar term for back-seat driver. It refers to someone who points out what to do right, though they have never done it themselves.

Back Seat driver is just someone who's sitting aside from what's going on, and telling someone what to in lieu of doing it themselves.

Besides, I'm not a geek, at least, I don't think I am... Maybe 6 years of college might have turned me into one... I know I wasn't when I first enrolled...

And lastly, I'm not the artist ;)

Eheh. I was only referring to *your* post in the first paragraph; I should have pointed that out. My mistake.
The rest was for the artist, but I'm sure he'll get the message.

I can see what you mean by "armchair quarterback" now. I guess it was misinterpreted as the stupid "Oh yeah? Go play football JOCK! *nyaannyaa* :P" come back I see from many a person on the internet... ^^;

I'm too literate for that ;)

Internet rule #19873 : "If you can't find any fault in someone's statement and you don't like it, pretend they don't speak English or something!"

And you can't be *too* literate to read something. If anything, that points to some sort of reading difficulty on your part.

It's OK. Nothing to be ashamed of. :)

You're getting awfully close to evoking Godwin's law here, as you're now off topic. You may end it peacefully here by not posting at all.
