FC 2010 report
Jan. 27th, 2010 09:12 pmAs I tap this into my netbook, it's Monday at Further Confusion. There's literally not alot going on now, according to the program guide. So it's safe to start up a con report. Oh where to begin...
Thursday: Bus-train-airport bus method of getting to BWI went without a hitch, and had the usual "Hey, is this... oh this guy's gotta be a furry geek" delay with scanning bags. TSA passed me through w/o a hard inspection of my carry-on.
Flight to Las Vegas was a pain: my netbook's HD crashed. 160 gigs, half of it full of Big Blue Fox's coverage. FUCK!. Got by with podcasts and artwork. Captian was able to get us in on-time despite the rain (was expecting to be early.)
Las Vegas was chaotic. Delays and cancellations across the board for flights to Cali. One of the desk clerks called out for flights to San Jose and I (stupidly, as I wanted to play the slots) piped up. A 1.5 hour layover turned into 45 minutes as I was switched to a late-running early flight. For not taking in the slots I was able to get in early.
San Jose, however... My luggage didn't follow me, arriving on a later plane -- my original flight was canceled. I went to the Fairmount, got the con pre-reg taken care of; walked to the Sainte Claire, my hotel, and checked in tiredly. One trip out to the airport and back, and I had my luggage too.
Friday: Went up to Walgreens and back for shaving supplies. Trimmed up, shaved down, and got ready. Breakfast by Carl Jr's -- a disappointing affair. Helped Mel White with her Copyright panel for exchange in my Digital art done cheap panel the next day. Got into Drake for a while; I need to get the hands replaced, do elbow-gloves. Hit the dealers room a bit; got badges and a few sketches in. Attended a costumer 101 panel and popped in a few bits of information. Bumped into Roxikat (who was able to let me suit in his and Dorallizard's room) and Dragonrift. Dinner by McDonalds.
Saturday: Continued on with theme of waking up early and going to bed early like I was on East Coast Time. Breakfast by a bakery at the Fairmount. Hit up Gideon and Nivaeve at the Dealers Den. Collected badges from the Gneech, Ebonytigress; artwork from Pushy Garnet. Did Fursuit Parade as Drake, helping Roxikat as Hossifer (he didn't bring Roxi, but I could tell he wanted the change and was liking it, fell right into character). Went up, pull off, did my Digital Art for Cheap panel with Mel White -- I need to get into Manga Studio for doing the panels. Dinner at Johnny Rockets.
Sunday: No fursuit today. Hit Lizardbeth for a Drake badge. Got reminded of a badge by Aroura, and picked that up. Picked up Gideon artwork ("Bonus!"). Did webcomics panel, which I must prepare for next time I do that panel. Lunch/dinner at Peggy Sue's.
Monday: Cooldown day.
Needless to say I'm having only small issues with the hotel, and there could be some more room in the Dealers Den for folks to move around. There's barely enough for three-wide, and Anthrocon does two-and-two-wheelchairs wide (although it's in a convention center).
It's very likely if they stay in San Jose, though, I'm coming back.
