I was able to watch the Inauguration of Pres Obama at the office.
No, I didn't stream it.  The network firewall's too fickle.  Besides, in our day and age, I had better technology.
You see, I got a refurbished Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro (the 800e) from Woot! for cheap.  $40 total.  It's a handy little NTSC/ATSC receiver/digitizer... but of course, ATSC is already digital.  So, all I really needed was to take it, the antenna that came with it, and my EeePC, and go to town.
There was a bit of hesitation and occasional studdering, though, on the card... or should I say the EeePC.  It may be a Atom but it was working on that video like nothing else.  A quick Google search showed a possible solution:  Turn off deinterlacing.  I doubt anyone was using it for DTV, which I was hooking onto.  This droped the CPU load, and thus the signal became stable.
I thus like what I'm seeing.
