Didn't we have Talk Like a Pirate day earlier this year, like in the SPRING?!?
This has to be the stupidest meme ever. First of all, it downgrades your intellegence to that of a murderer and a theif of olden yore. Do you really want to be Captian Jack Sparrow for the entire day? Do you really want to be a Johnny Depp clone for just the sake of making your vocabulary contain only one word?
Secondly, It wastes time and effort on your side for having to translate to it. It wastes everyone elses time trying to read it before deciding they're better off on the next page. It wastes space and bandwidth.
And third, the psychological angle. IT'S FUCKIN' PISSING ME OFF! Yes, I'm one of those who don't like being the butt of the April Fools jokes, and very tempted to just turn off the Internet for the whole day. This is getting up to that level now.
Nice to show your professionalism, Engadget, TUAW, and Linden Labs. It really shows.
All right, who's next to say they're willing to stoop so low to prove they're absolutely brainless that if you took a cat scan of their head, it'll be nothing but spinal fluid and a thin layer of brain tissue (three cases so far, one each in the UK, France, and New York City)?
EDIT: Just as an aside, if it was done in the pretext of a comic (say, Something Positive), it's enjoyable. But straight out of the norm and off the starboard plank?!?
