Sep. 11th, 2006 11:40 amIt's Sept 11th, again. Five years after the fateful day. You all remember it. If you don't, the news will let you experience it.
Instead of letting us look back, let us look forward. We have many problems now stemming from the efforts by Congress and President "Dubba" Bush. The 9/11 commission mentions them easily. Let's see about fixing them.

- Wiretapping and call endpoint recording -- Granted, it can be useful, but the problem is in the execution. AT&T let the NSA have the numbers "raw" instead of "hashed" or encrypted in the origional plan. Having the raw phone numbers requires a supeona, which the NSA didn't have. If it was hashed, the NSA could of applied for the supeona and gotten the information quickly via the FISA courts.
- FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) courts -- They allow for supeonas of highly sensitive information, usually grants them (although I hear w/modifications), and lets you do it retroactively. The problem is, the administration doesn't use it! Therefore, make any evidence that could only be gathered with a FISA supeona unusable without one; jailtime for the penalty, unless it's the President ordering it, then it's treason.
- Domestic Security -- The 9/11 commission got this one right. Therefore, blow the budget and make the recommendations law.
