Jul. 11th, 2006 12:20 amI'm ill. When you're running a 101 temp and the "Clerks II" commercial is funny, you're down for the count.
However, in my last post of the night before I clunk into bed again, I should describe the Ergo Strobber. Simply put, it's a multi-function stage, for concerts, karioke, and cover band wars.
More technially, it is a PHISH-inspired holographic arena capable of producing any possible instrument programmed in it's library, as well as independently judge any karioke or cover band songs on many key points (more weight to how close they are to the origional). While you can raise and lower the stage area (to allow third party intstruments on), it's dedicated banks of computers can ensure that the music is always great, and the seven displays over the stage will let folks know the words in animated fashion.
In Karioke or Cover War mode, the computer will judge the music produced and give you a percentage. The goal is to be at 100%, and there is some personality in the system. If you're in the Karioke mode and you're screeching the tunes out, the computer will most likely score you low and tell you not to quit your day job. If you're consitently bad, it may refer you to ether a crisis hotline or Dr. Demento. But if you close, you're at the high 90% and the computer will urge you on.
Cover War mode is intresting and best played with some buds with a beat. You must reproduce, as close as possible, the origional music. If you've practiced, you'll get in the high percentages and possibly a recommendation to try your own band out. If you suck or try a fakebook approach, you're scored low and the computer acts like Simon Cowel.
You'll see the Ergo Strobbler a few times. There's one in all Shotgun Shells, the Sol 3 embassy, and a few other places on Canmeph 2. The one in Sol 3 is used very much by the staff and... well... I hear Sidney's been hitting 100% on this song in Cover War mode.
