Folks partied to the very end in New Orleans.  Now they have a Katrina-sized hangover that's shared from Louisiana across to Florida... a hangover that's shared now as many refineries are closed, as well as off-shore rigs that may have been destroyed.  Gas prices are now AT $3/gallon regular unleaded -- a news report via local TV station reported they went up a quarter over the span of 5 hours.  I hope they can get things back up and running quickly for that industry.

One of Fox News' talking heads, Neil Cavuto, ended his show with one intresting thought:  Where is the support for the US, after all that the US has given to the international community?  And to be honest, there's been no report of it that I've seen from Fox, CNN, MSNBC, nor CBS -- it's been mosty localized coverage of the storm itself, not any aid offered by Brittan or France or even Iran.

So, before I pull up the BBC, I'd like to ask the furs reading my blog, who are "across the great pond" in Asia, Africa, South America, Austrailia and Europe.  Has the country in your neck of the woods offered aid to the USA?

I just got my proof order of Stalag '99 Book #0: Return to Sender from Lulu, and I'm amazed at the better, sharper quality -- part of it being how I did the PDF's this time around... but they definetly ran a sharpening filter on it.  It just looks great.

So, the "first edition" goes on sale for $13.50!  Snatch it up, because come Friday night it switches to "Second Edition" with new cover art and the ability to ask your book store "HEY!  I WANT STALAG '99!  HERE'S THE ISBN!"

Gas is now hovering $3 here in Maryland, and predicted to go to $3.50 (and that's for one gallon).  It makes me wonder...

$3.50 for a gallon of gas.  That's $52.50 for a 15 gallon tank -- and I belive you have to fill up at least twice, if not three times, a month.

Compare with mass transit.  In Maryland, $3.50 is an all-day pass on most transit systems.  A monthly pass is $64 flat -- that's 18 and nearly a third gallons, and you get to travel EVERYWHERE that's covered.  If you reduce your fillups to like 1-2 a month just by doing that, then you're set!
