It's rather suitable that I use my "pissed" icon for Sin City, but not because I'm pissed at the movie.
I'm pissed that Ogle isn't working and I'm going to shoot it, and put it out of it's misery.
I'm pissed that Mplayer can't handle "big-endian" AC3 Audio.
I'm pissed that the movie has like 20 trailers I didn't want and had to step through just see that Mplayer can't handle it.
I'm pissed that the only player that worked right on this movie is Xine.
And yet, I like Sin City. It's not one of those watered-down "This should of been PG-13" movies. It's not a "It's so close to R let's put in this sex scene to do it" movie (Matrix Reloaded). This one earns it's R rating. I heard they stuck to Frank Miller's storyline, making sure he had full control over the film. I heard from friends that it's 1:1 with his comic books. I can't wait to read them. Yes, the story is that graphic. Yes, there's tons of blood and lead flying about. Yes, this isn't for the weak of heart. But you can't live drinking one cola all the time -- it gets bland and old, and you have to "flush the system" ever so often. The same is true with movies -- after a while the same plot is revealed over and over again, and you have to step out of the genre and look for something fresh. The origional Matrix, Batman Begins, Kung Fu Hustle, and now Sin City. I grew tired of X-men, Wonder Woman, Superman, Spiderman, whatnot. Give me the Invisibles, Creature Tech, and more fresh thinking that's not only outside the box, but out of this world.
I borrowed this from my sister, but I doubt she nor her husband wants it back anytime soon.
