Humanoid Cloning...
Apr. 10th, 2002 02:28 pmOh great... right when Star Wars Ep II is comming out... Pres Bush wants a total ban on cloning. I bet that he was breifed that there was an unconfirmed report of human cloning (Yahoo! News full coverage link). And I have to disagree with the President and go with Rep. Tom Dashel. However, folks are coming off short, virtually saying "Cloning is an exact copy with memories" when it isn't. Come on! What do we have to do, spell it out?
I might as well. Humanoid Cloning Regulation Act, Canmephian Planetary Code (remember, the penalties are now reeducation, detention for insanity, or death; a court must decide what penalties are warranted if there is a conviction):
Definitions:
Cloning is the process of creating one humanoid being from another by transferring the DNA of the source to a destination, and growing the destination (sometimes at an accellerated rate).
Full Cloning is cloning, with the memories and information copied from any centralized nervous systems (including the brain) transferred to the destination.
Partial Cloning is cloning, but not Full Cloning.
Code:
FULL CLONING IS BANNED. A person caught in the act of full cloning and convicted of such shall be detained for retraining, unless circumstances dictate a lost cause.
PARTIAL CLONING IS ALLOWED, BUT RESTRICTED. A person who violates these restrictions shall fall under the penalties for full cloning.
THE RESTRICTIONS ON ALLOWED PARTIAL CLONING ARE: Research approved by the executive branch's Research and Development Department; Replacement vital organs and replacement limbs which are grown on demand (not have a seperate body on hand for replacements).
THE RESTRICTIONS AGAINST PARTIAL CLONING INCLUDE: Addition of major limb groups for enhancement puposes.
I really do think our leaders cannot seperate "partial cloning" from "full cloning".
