Dec. 18th, 2001 04:13 pmI hate to say this, but after this week, Stalag '99 may take a hiatus until next year. This is because my Linux box used to create the strip each week or so, "tygris", just died after a power outage. It looks like to be a motherboard problem. I'm swapping in a spare, but I'm not sure if it'll work.
It looks like I'll have to upgrade major components very soon anyway. My list is:
* Motherboard w/processor (Dual?)
* Memory, 256 Megs min, depending on the board.
* SCSI card (PCI, scanner and ZIP drive are both SCSI)
* Ethernet Card (PCI, on cable modem w/internals)
* A new case to shove it all in.
What fun! It'll probably be around $300-$500 just to pull it all off.
If you're willing to help spare the expence of getting a complete new system, you can donate some cash via Paypal on the front page. This isn't required -- if you feel like donating, I won't turn you down.
