I origionally was looking for 16-bit parallel DAC to hook into.  I then look at an old ISA Soundblaster 16 and think... wait, they've hooked Commodore 64's to IDE harddrives and ISA Realtek NIC's.  I don't need to recreate a sound card, I just need to hook one up to a PIC and control it there!

I'm having fun.

Dunno if this has anything to do with what you are talking about...

Somewhere out there on the net, someone is selling a PCI card with dual Commodore SID chips on it. The SID chip is notable as its a real analogue synth on a chip... Coolness.
