When installing Windows, disable ACPI (either in the BIOS or, in my case, hitting "F5" durring the "Hit F6 to load in a SCSI driver..." in Win2000 Setup and selecting "Standard PC"). ACPI is a broken spec.

I hope the new Linux box will overcome it...
