The present standard for consumer-grade wireless networking is WiFi, technically 802.11b. They have a sticker on it saying WiFi.

My problem is that they're usually dinky little cards the size of a pack of cigarettes but thinner, and alot of these cards I don't know if there's any support for my Linux PDA, a Sharp Zaurus SL-5500, as well as my Linux firewall. Not Windows, Linux.

Unfortunately, there's no real "THIS WORKS" list.
