I wish people would quit blaming the oil companies. Three reasons.
1) The oil companies would probably have no issues dropping out of gasoline. Most of them are being forced to put in an additive that they have to buy from a competitor - without any choice in the matter. 2) Plastics. 40 years ago, yes, plastics was a small market. It's not anymore. Polymer construction _sucks_ oil. All they'd have to do is reduce their production of pain-in-the-ass material. 3) Who do you think would end up being used to produce the various biodiesels? The people with the most experience and the equipment to do it. I.E. Oil companies (and/or breweries)
